Thumb Sucking Monkey May Need Braces
A baby white-collared mangabey born at the Paris Museum of Natural History has been advised by orthodontists that if he continues to suck his thumb, he’ll grow up needing a retainer — or worse, braces.
“Then, all the other monkeys will call him brace face,” says Dr. Jack Fogarty, DDS. “That’s preventable. We just have to correct this behavior early on.”
